For Parents

These articles are written to the parent, not about the child — because the person reading at 11 PM with a worried child in the next room is the one who needs the answer.

They assume you are observant and that you noticed something real. That is why you are reading. None of them will tell you that you should have come sooner.

Across ENT and orthopedics you will find fever and when it genuinely cannot wait, febrile fits explained calmly, recurring ear infections, swimmer's ear, adenoids and mouth-breathing, night leg pains, and clubfoot — which is not caused by anything you did, and which the Ponseti method corrects in the large majority of babies when it is started early.

Each article marks the signs that mean go now, and the ones that mean it is safe to watch until morning.

Questions patients ask us

Which doctor should I show my child to in Indore?

It depends on the problem: ear, nose, throat, adenoid and tonsil issues go to Dr. Soumya S. Maurya (MS – ENT); limb, gait and bone concerns go to Dr. Arpit Maurya (MS – Orthopaedics). Both consult at D.R. Healthcare, Indore, Monday to Saturday 6–8 PM.

When should a child's fever be shown to a doctor?

A baby under three months with any fever, fever lasting beyond three days, or fever with rash, drowsiness, poor feeding, fits or difficulty breathing should be seen promptly. Our fever guide below explains what to watch at home.

Do children need a separate paediatric ENT?

Common childhood ENT problems — ear infections, glue ear, adenoids, tonsils — are routinely treated by an ENT surgeon. Dr. Soumya S. Maurya sees children as part of everyday ENT practice at the clinic.
